We’re looking for short scripts in any genre for an anthology show in the summer, so get your thinking caps on.

The full brief for submissions is as follows:

Theme: Obsession

Mandatory prop to use / mention: bottle of cheap wine

The format for Full Stack is designed to encourage simplicity and efficiency of storytelling, so submissions need to:

  • Be no longer than 4 sides of A4 paper (ie. about 8 minutes)
  • Have no more than 3 actors needed
  • Include your name & date written

Your script can be shorter than 4 pages, and/or have more than 3 characters (as long as 3 actors can portray them all). You can submit as many scripts as you like!

Please send your scripts to newwriting@kdctheatre.com, by 26 March. Happy writing!

KDC’s New Writing Group is here!

Always wanted to write but never knew where to start? Folder full of plays in progress but stuck on how to finish them? Feeling like your work doesn’t get picked to be staged? Looking for a supportive group of other writers to motivate you?

KDC Theatre’s New Writing Group aims to do all of that, and more. Consisting of 5 monthly working sessions, the programme focuses on 4 things:

  1. Develop existing work further
  2. Inspire new writing through exercises and briefs (sometimes with actors!)
  3. Teach writing techniques and dramaturgy
  4. Provide a support network of other writers

Applications are now open

The New Writing Group is an online programme so writers from across the world can join. The sessions will be supported by a closed Facebook group where writers can talk to each other, KDC Theatre will set small challenges and share news, and discuss the previous and next sessions.

The season culminates in a rehearsed readings night, where each writer will be able to showcase a piece of their own choosing.

The New Writing Group will meet on Saturdays at 7-9pm GMT (London time) on the following dates:

23 January 2021
20 February 2021
20 March 2021
24 April 2021
22 May 2021
26 June 2021
(rehearsed readings night)

The New Writing Group is open to 10 writers via a short application process. Please go HERE for more information and the application form.

Taster session

Not sure yet if you want to join the full programme? KDC Theatre will run an open taster session on 12 December 2020 that will touch on some of the topics that will be part of the programme’s workshops.

The taster session is open to all and just requires a sign-up so we know where to send the login details to. Please go HERE for all the information and to sign up.

Date: 12 December
Time: 7-9pm GMT (London, UK time)
Location: Zoom (link will be shared after sign-up)

This is a free session.
