Devising Plays: From Setting to Story

On Saturday 3 and 10 March, KDC will be running an afternoon session called Devising Plays: From Setting to Story. Starting with the basics of creative collaboration, we will look to explore different methods by which a complete story can be constructed by a group working together. We will then choose one approach and develop a complete, original story from scratch that could be subsequently developed into a devised play. The session will be run by the originator of KDC’s devised Studio Piece programme and director of KDC’s first three devised plays, Richard Williams.

This session is for people who are looking for a chance to practise their storytelling, collaborate on a creating ideas within a group and are interested in devising plays in general.

This is the second set of Devising workshops we’ve run and will use some of the methods explored in the first workshops (Collaborative Storytelling and Character Construction Workshop) and continue on. You do not need to have attended the first set of workshops to attend this one as we’ll be introducing these concepts afresh.

Each session will run from 12.15pm to 6.30pm in a central London rehearsal space. Participants can attend only one session (either the 3rd or the 10th).

Attendance is free, however places are limited to six spaces for each session.  Please contact Richard Williams at treasurer@kdctheatre.com for details on how to apply.

LATEST – 3 March now fully booked.

After an amazingly high turnout of amazingly top talent, the directing teams and ourselves are extremely pleased to present to you the actors for our Spring 2012 season!

First Thirsty Thursday of Spring 2012 Tonight!

Hello KDCers!

Now begineth the new season, Shakespearean in it’s flavours!

With the auditions out of the way and the shows about to start rehearsals, it’s time for KDC to get back into it’s sociable ways.

Our Social Team, Tracie and Carrie, are up first, to invite ALL of you to our regular haunt, the Hoop and Grapes, 80 Farringdon Street on THURSDAY 2nd FEB, for our Thirsty Thursday spectacular!

Whether you auditioned for this season, didn’t audition, if you’re cast, or not cast, whether you’re an old member or new—we’d love to have as many KDC members there for a tipple on a wintry Feb evening. The more the merrier so come out and say hello!

New Year Message from the Chair

Happy new year from all of us on the KDC Committee to all of you in KDC we’re committed to!

A reminder from me that the Newcomers meeting for our forthcoming Spring Season will be on Thursday 19th January at 7pm at the Melton Mowbray in Holborn.

Come and join us! Tell your friends! Tell anyone you know who wants to act on/add on that New Year Resolution to “DO MORE STUFF”

It’s a great chance to meet the committee and, most importantly, to learn more about this seasons shows; Measure for Measure, The Tamer Tamed and War of the Waleses. You will get the chance to hear from, and fire questions at, our three directors, Jacqui Adams, Matthew Partridge and Sarah Heenan, and be able to meet up with old friends/make new friends.

Obviously this isn’t exclusive to new members. KDC Theatre is all about keeping our productions as fresh and exciting as possible for our familiar faces, as well as thriving on the enthusiasm of new faces.

So if you’ve never been to a KDC Event before, or have mates who are looking to get involved in something new but just weren’t sure when, or if you’re a familiar face to us lot, then come along and find out more!

We look forward to seeing you there.
