The Tamer Tamed opening 3 April

Here we are on the second leg of our Shakespeare triathlon. Congratulations to all involved in Measure for Measure – a fantastic crew and brilliant performances all round. This week we bring you The Tamer Tamed – follow-up to Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew and far better than most sequels.

The second play of our Spring Season, The Tamer Tamed, opens tomorrow, 3 April, at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town. It runs from Tuesday to Saturday and performances begin at 7.30pm.

The Tamer Tamed is the sequel to Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew – where the women get their revenge on the newly remarried Petruchio.
Written by John Fletcher, the Bard’s collaborator on Henry VIII, Two Noble Kinsman and (the lost) Cardenio, the play combines moments of high and low comedy with some powerful speeches in this timeless tale about the battle of the sexes and who really comes out on top.

Round Table Readings and the Ides of March

One of our favourite seasonal events returns this Thursday, 1 March, after a long time away! KDC Theatre prides itself on being a home to new plays and new writing, and we love to read out new plays that come from within our circle of members and friends.  As such, we have three dates for you to write in your diary:

Thursday 1 March
Tuesday 6 March
Monday 12 March

All of our reading nights are open to all, with no reservation needed and no fee asked. Just turn up to read, to listen, or to offer impartial comments.

The readings will all be at our favourite haunt, The Hoop and Grapes, and will start from 7pm. We hope to see you there!

With our Shakespeare season in full force, beware the Ides of March are coming!

Mark it in your calendars if you dare – the next KDC social will be held on 15 March at the Hoop and Grapes from 7pm.

More details to follow soon …
