What the Dickens! Part One

“It has an awful voice, that wind at Midnight…Heaven preserve us, sitting snugly round the fire!”

What the Dickens New-Writing Project

This Thursday, 18 October, at the Hoop and Grapes sees the FIRST of this season’s special Ghost Stories, written and read by KDC, and adapted from the great Charles Dickens.

Dickens was fascinated with the ghostly and the spiritual, and to celebrate that, and our FIRST EVER Halloween season, we would like to invite you to enjoy some ghoulish tales.

As the evenings draw in and Hallow’een approaches, what better way to celebrate the season and the coming of KDC’s Dracula than by pulling up a chair in a City of London hostelry and listening to spooky takes of spectral visitations newly-penned by the ink-stained fingers of our shivering scribes and read by some of KDC’s most sinister voices.

The readings will be from 7pm at The Hoop & Grapes. Come and enjoy an evening with a drink and friends and come to enjoy the first ever readings of some new work!

KDC Theatre Social Night/Season Kick Off!

KDC Theatre would like you all to join us for a good old booze up on Thursday 15th March to embrace the countdown to our Spring Shakespearean Season at the Lion and Unicorn!

The Ides of March Social (aka “You’re Bard”) will be in the upstairs room at the Hoop and Grapes on Farringdon Street and will start from 7(ish)

It’s a relaxed night involving very little outside of chatting and supping (possibly quaffing), and is open to all!

You don’t have to be in one of the shows. You don’t have to like Shakespeare. You don’t have to be an actor. You don’t have to bring a ruff or dress as your favourite Shakespearean quote (although you are equally welcome to!)

Just join us to share your rapier wit!

We shall see thee anon!

Round Table Readings and the Ides of March

One of our favourite seasonal events returns this Thursday, 1 March, after a long time away! KDC Theatre prides itself on being a home to new plays and new writing, and we love to read out new plays that come from within our circle of members and friends.  As such, we have three dates for you to write in your diary:

Thursday 1 March
Tuesday 6 March
Monday 12 March

All of our reading nights are open to all, with no reservation needed and no fee asked. Just turn up to read, to listen, or to offer impartial comments.

The readings will all be at our favourite haunt, The Hoop and Grapes, and will start from 7pm. We hope to see you there!

With our Shakespeare season in full force, beware the Ides of March are coming!

Mark it in your calendars if you dare – the next KDC social will be held on 15 March at the Hoop and Grapes from 7pm.

More details to follow soon …

We also welcome any KDC-ers who would like to catch up over a drink or two or more as well! We look forward to seeing you there.
