Pitches open for Spring 2019
With our Autumn Season well under way it’s time to set our eyes to Spring (we are sorry, it’s not even Halloween yet…) but there are 3 weeks up for grabs as part of our first season of 2019 at Barons Court Theatre w/c 18th/25th March and 1st April. There is no set theme to follow for Spring, we just really want to see your passion for your chosen project come through in your pitch.
Please keep the following in mind when making your choice: KDC’s acting demographic is predominantly made up for 20s/30s; we historically have a higher percentage of auditionees that identify as female; we generally look for a minimum cast number of 6 and the Barons Court itself is an intimate space so bear that in mind with regards to tech etc.
Each season is looked at individually so if you don’t think your idea quite fits the above, do still get in touch! Also, obtaining rights can sometimes prove problematic so within your pitch you will be asked for a 2nd choice, please give this some serious thought as you will be asked about it in your pitch interview (but don’t be put off if you don’t have one, we can chat about options should we need to).

Junk Puppet Making & Performance Workshop
Come make puppets with us! We will be constructing and playing with puppets made from everyday objects and materials, working out how they move, what personalities they have, what stories we can tell, and how we can alter their design to change their character. We will find out how they can interact with each other and human characters, and how to operate them, to give them life.
The workshop is free and you don’t need any experience! If you have any questions please email carl@kdctheatre.com

KDC is now a charity!
Thanks to the efforts of Sarah and Will, and those KDC members that approved the required constitution changes, KDC is now officially a registered charity! This is a very positive step for the group, aligning our legal status with what we actually are (“doing good nice things m’kay”), and making our future more secure.

Auditions for our fantastic autumns season of shows are this week, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings. You can audition for all the shows in a single evening, and you only need to come to one day. There is no need to prepare anything, you don’t need to pre-register, and they are free.
When: 17, 18 & 19th September, 6:45pm–9pm

Autumn Season auditions
Season Launch party – 13 Sept
Oh my, it’s theatre’ing time again! Come to our season launch party on 13 September, from 7:30pm at Hoop & Grapes pub in Farringdon Street. You can grab a beer, mingle with all the nice people, chat to the directors — oh did I say Directors? Well yes I did because we’ve got a bunch of shows that we need you to be involved with!
Come theatre-types all, both KDC regulars and the new-and-shiny. We’re going to be needing a cast for all this lot, so come and show us what you got (auditions will be 17-19 September). If you’re not one of those actor-types, there are also a number of non-cast roles that we will need to fill, so come round, say hi! We are a very friendly bunch of folks and can’t wait to meet you!

Upcoming auditions
Future Imperfect:
KDC’s summer show is the return of last summer’s new writing success, What Keeps Me Awake, with the same format and a new theme.
Until the end of March 2018, writers from across the globe are submitting short plays written for KDC. Writers have only two words to guide them, the title: Future Imperfect. Last year over 130 plays were submitted. From these, 5 directors chose the best 12.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be mainly but not exclusively on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. Rehearsal venues are in central London, often at the Hoop and Grapes pub (80 Farringdon St, EC4A 4BL) and Theatre Delicatessen (2 Finsbury Avenue, EC2M 2PA).
