A new season of New Writing Round Table Readings…
Dates: 30 September & 7 October
Venue: The Hoop and Grapes, 80 Farringdon Street, London EC4A 4BL
Following on from last year’s “What the Dickens?”, we’ve given twelve talented writers one spooky fairy tale each, and told them to turn it into a short play, with an edgy urban setting. Including everything from creepy nightclub bouncers to rogue RSPCA officers, these tales will amuse and scare you in equal measure.
Round Table Readings are free to attend. If you are comfortable reading cold and are interested in performing, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Or listen if you prefer. Constructive feedback is encouraged.
Date: Thursday 11th September
Time: Join us from 7pm for a drink. The meeting will start at 7.30pm
Venue: The Red Herring, 49 Gresham St EC2V 7EH. Nearest tube St Paul’s
Each season we hold a Newcomers Meeting where the directors will tell you more about their plays and the audition process. It’s a great way to find out more about the season and of course you can quiz the directors and committee too. Whether you’ve been hanging out with KDC for years, or you’re completely new to us, come on down!
Winter season consists of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and Well Dressed, both on at Barons Court Theatre. Visit the auditions notices for more details about the shows.
Our AGM is the chance for you to find out our plans for the next year, see what state the bank account is in, and of course elect the new committee. Plus this year we have a very exciting announcement to make about the future of KDC.
KDC relies on its members to keep it running so if you fancy being on the committee we’d love to hear from you. The following positions are currently vacant so send email@example.com an e-mail if you’d like to find out more about what they entail:
Lock Up Co-Ordinator
Of course it wouldn’t be an AGM without a few drinks and an excuse for another social. So if you missed the picnic, catch up with old friends and new.
When? Sunday 6 July from 1pm
Where? Hampstead Heath, near Parliament Hill Cafe. Click for map.
Where to meet? We will be in Costa Coffee in Kentish Town from 1pm – 1.45pm and then will walk up together – if you arrive after that head to Parliament Hill cafe (see above) and call us on 07547 018 325 – we’ll find you!

However you like to get your kicks, we are sure you’ll find your thing.

The New Writing Round Table Readings return in fine form for Summer 2014. As usual, there is no charge and everyone is welcome!
Last Orders by Phil Thomas
A pub at the bottom of a condemned tower block on an East London housing estate is an hour away from demolition. However, for Doug the owner, it might be last orders in more ways than one.
Terra Firma by Susan Gray
A politician and his wife are stranded in a post-apocalyptic Earth as part of a reality TV show.
With the auditions out of the way, congratulations to those of you who have been cast, and for those of you that missed out, there’s plenty to get involved with this season.
We are very proud of our new writing at KDC. If you are a budding author, or have a sketch, short play or full length piece of work, or even something under development you’d like to hear out loud, get in touch with Matthew, our new writing rep.
Below is the provisional schedule of roundtable readings for Spring Season 2014. Turn up, get a drink, take a script and spend an evening reading these never-bef0re-heard works. Like all our social events, it is of course free.

Haters of trivia will adore the KDC Christmas quiz, we promise you you can lose all your brain cells to mulled wine and still have a shot at glory.
Can you eat more mince pies than Santa? Sing more festive tunes than Elton John? Make home-made Christmas gifts better than a class of candy cane hyped 5 year olds?
Yes? Then get down to the Hoop and get involved in the merriment. The rules:
1. Teams need a minimum of 3 people and a max of 6 – if you don’t have one we’ll find you one!
2. Don’t cheat or we’ll egg you.
3. The judges decision is final no matter how drunk they appear.
Late notice: Halloween Party this Saturday 26 October at the Hoop & Grapes, Farringdon Road.
Shocktails. Fancy Dress. Movie screenings. See you there!
