Spring has Sprung in the Springiest Way

My lords and ladies! This week we mourn the passing (for the most part) of a truly amazing three weeks of KDC Shows (with MANY sell-out nights!)! Our Shakespeare season proved to be a real stormer at the Lion and Unicorn, a new venue for us, and Giant Olive Theatre Company for their support (big round of virtual applause and a Mexican wave in honour of George, Bianca, Tamzin, Cieran and Max).
Once again, the greatest of thanks from the committee to you, for the support and encouragement of our members from interest, to audition, to acting or watching! But obviously this season would have been for NAUGHT (still Shakespearean!) without Jacqui’s scandal-ridden 1960 era Measure for Measure, Matthew’s fantastically flapping 1920s The Tamer Tamed and Sarah’s glowstick 90s salute in KDC’s own The War of the Waleses (which was so popular it needed an extra show!).

The War of the Waleses is not done yet though. Oh no, sirrah! As part of the RSC Open Stages project there is a showcase to attend at our regional hosts, Questors Theatre in Ealing. We would love it if you, our members, could show your full support for us in their MASSIVE 350 seat venue! The performance is at 7.45pm on Thursday 26 April. For more details please visit the

The Tamer Tamed opening 3 April

Here we are on the second leg of our Shakespeare triathlon. Congratulations to all involved in Measure for Measure – a fantastic crew and brilliant performances all round. This week we bring you The Tamer Tamed – follow-up to Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew and far better than most sequels.

The second play of our Spring Season, The Tamer Tamed, opens tomorrow, 3 April, at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town. It runs from Tuesday to Saturday and performances begin at 7.30pm.

The Tamer Tamed is the sequel to Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew – where the women get their revenge on the newly remarried Petruchio.
Written by John Fletcher, the Bard’s collaborator on Henry VIII, Two Noble Kinsman and (the lost) Cardenio, the play combines moments of high and low comedy with some powerful speeches in this timeless tale about the battle of the sexes and who really comes out on top.

To book your tickets, click here , or call the box office on 08444 771 000.

KDC Theatre Social Night/Season Kick Off!

KDC Theatre would like you all to join us for a good old booze up on Thursday 15th March to embrace the countdown to our Spring Shakespearean Season at the Lion and Unicorn!

The Ides of March Social (aka “You’re Bard”) will be in the upstairs room at the Hoop and Grapes on Farringdon Street and will start from 7(ish)

It’s a relaxed night involving very little outside of chatting and supping (possibly quaffing), and is open to all!

You don’t have to be in one of the shows. You don’t have to like Shakespeare. You don’t have to be an actor. You don’t have to bring a ruff or dress as your favourite Shakespearean quote (although you are equally welcome to!)

Just join us to share your rapier wit!

We shall see thee anon!
